Ideal 18 Sailing with Program Director, Tom Powers
On Saturday morning, June 8, 2012, Ideal 18 Program Director Tom Powers was on the job outlining the basics of Ideal 18 sailing to a group of MBYC Ideal 18 sailors.

There was no wind, but what else can we expect from Manhasset Bay. So the answer was to hitch a ride on one of the launches out to Little Dipper, a/k/a Ideal 171 where Tom gave a talk about Ideal 18 sailing. Tom runs a series of regularly scheduled instructional clinics each week (Thursday mornings (1030-12:30), Friday evenings (6-8) and Saturday and Sunday mornings (10:30-12:30) that have been designed to help keep MBYC’s Ideal 18 sailors on a starboard tack. He is also available for lessons. Whether it’s the basics of Ideal 18 sailing or advanced racing skills, Tom helps MBYC members build confidence and skills. It’s all very relaxed, a great chance to learn and have fun. There is something for everyone and easy to SAILMBYC in an Ideal 18. Just call the club and say, “I want to be an Ideal 18 sailor.”
